Late last night, opponents of the data center received news that Common Pleas Judge Matthew Smith ordered the developer and the township to explain within two weeks why construction, which is already underway, should not be stopped while the legal case continues. The judge's order, however, does not prevent tonight's supervisors meeting.
The vote on the data center project, referred to as "Packs One," has faced multiple delays. Initially scheduled for August 5th, it was pushed to the 19th and moved to a larger venue due to the overwhelming turnout of opponents. That meeting was also standing room only and ended abruptly when Township solicitor Keith Brennaman fell ill. A subsequent early morning meeting on August 28th, unrelated to the data center but attended by persistent residents, saw a supervisor's resignation. Tonight's crucial meeting is scheduled for 6:00 PM at Cumberland Valley High School.
