Gov: Rogers County, Claremore, Local Development Review Act Committee, area school districts
A committee representing Rogers County taxing entities in Oklahoma has recommended a tax abatement plan for Beale Infrastructure's proposed Project Mustang data center. The plan, which was approved by an 11-member review committee created by the city of Claremore in May 2025, would exempt the data center developer from paying property taxes for decades. In return, Beale Infrastructure would make annually increasing payments in lieu of taxes to area school districts and provide a $250,000 "community betterment payment" annually to the city of Claremore.
The recommendation comes despite local opposition, with residents voicing concerns about the project. Photographs show three women holding signs in opposition to the data center at Claremore City Hall during the March 31 meeting where the plan was discussed and recommended. Jeff Sabin, a partner at the Center for Economic Development Law in Oklahoma City, explained the project plan to the Local Development Review Act Committee members at the meeting.
