Eastland County residents petition against foreign-owned solar and AI data center projects
Two Eastland County women are leading a petition to oppose foreign-owned solar projects, citing concerns over farmland, rural life, infrastructure, and the environment. They also expressed opposition to AI data centers and large power lines, urging residents to attend an upcoming commissioners meeting to voice their concerns.
Two Eastland County residents, Missi Bilby and Stephanie Alexander, have launched a petition to rally opposition against foreign-owned solar panel projects. Bilby, whose family has farmed in the county for generations, expressed fears that these large-scale developments could destroy local land, impact rural life, and jeopardize the future of farming.
The women also voiced concerns about broader impacts, including strain on infrastructure, environmental damage such as water structure degradation and soil erosion. During their petition drive, residents shared concerns not only about solar farms but also about wind turbines, AI data centers, and new power lines.
Bilby and Alexander are encouraging community members to become informed and attend an Eastland County Commissioners meeting on May 26 to ask questions and demand representation on these issues, highlighting that many residents are currently unaware of the proposed developments.
