Hartford Demolishes Windsor Street Data Center Near Dunkin' Park
Hartford has begun demolishing the vacant, deteriorating five-story data center at 150 Windsor St. near Dunkin' Park. The city is using state brownfield and redevelopment funding to clear the site, which RMS Cos. may redevelop with a boutique hotel and as many as 250 apartments, although plans remain preliminary.
Hartford officials began exterior demolition of the long-vacant data center at 150 Windsor St., next to Dunkin' Park. The nearly 190,000-square-foot building has suffered extensive vandalism and contains asbestos and other contamination, requiring months of hazardous-material removal before the structure can be taken down. Demolition is expected to finish within about 60 days, with the site cleared and graded by the first quarter of 2027.
The city is financing the work with state brownfield and redevelopment funds, though published accounts differ on the total amount. RMS Cos., led by founder and CEO Randy Salvatore, controls the parcel under a long-term development agreement and is considering a roughly 120-room boutique hotel and up to 250 apartments. Salvatore said the concept is preliminary, while Hartford Mayor Arunan Arulampalam and state and regional development officials described the demolition as a step toward reconnecting downtown and the North End around the ballpark.
