Louisville Lawmakers Host Town Hall on Data Center Moratorium Discussions
Kentucky lawmakers are hosting a town hall in Louisville to discuss data center development, following recent moratoriums enacted in Nelson County, Kentucky, and New Albany, Indiana. Louisville Metro Council members are advocating for a similar moratorium in Louisville. The public is invited to share their input at the event.
Kentucky Democratic lawmakers are holding a town hall event at the South Central Regional Library in Louisville to discuss data center development. The event, scheduled for tonight, aims to gather public thoughts, concerns, and opinions on the topic.
While Louisville does not currently have a moratorium on data center development, the discussion comes as other areas in the Kentuckiana region have recently enacted such pauses. Notably, the Nelson County Fiscal Court unanimously voted 5 to 0 yesterday for a year-long halt on data center development. A similar movement is also advancing in New Albany, Indiana.
Several Metro Council members in Louisville are actively advocating for the city to implement its own moratorium, urging Louisville to follow the precedent set by its neighboring communities. Residents are encouraged to attend the town hall to contribute to the ongoing conversation.
