The Citrus County Planning and Development Commission board met on Thursday to continue discussions regarding a proposed data center in Lecanto, Florida. This comes even after the county enacted a one-year moratorium on new data centers on May 1st. The proposal, which aims to build a data center on 800 acres near County Road 491 and Tram Road, was initiated prior to the moratorium.

Representatives from the Deltona Corporation, the development company behind the project, addressed questions from the county's planning board. The board specifically inquired about the project's potential impact on water usage, noise levels, and the creation of jobs. Local opponents, primarily the group "No Data Center Citrus," have consistently voiced their concerns at planning and zoning meetings.
