Virginia state Sen. Russet Perry, a Democrat from Loudoun, proposed legislation that would halt approval of new data centers statewide for three years beginning in July 2027. State Sen. Russet Perry (D-Loudoun) proposed a bill she said would halt the approval of new data centers for three years, starting July 2027.
She said the Commonwealth “can not continue to shove new data centers down a pipe... that is already flooding over,” and a pause would grant Virginia a chance to create more safeguards in the industry.
