West Virginia data center offers to buy neighbors' homes
A data center company, Inscale, is offering to purchase all 53 homes in the Meadowland Estates neighborhood north of Point Pleasant, West Virginia. This action comes after residents reported significant noise and disruption from the nearby data center construction, leading many to consider selling their homes.
Homeowners in the Meadowland Estates neighborhood, located just north of Point Pleasant, West Virginia, report that their peaceful lives have been disrupted since construction began on a nearby data center project. The company behind the development, Inscale, is now offering to purchase all 53 homes in the area, stating that any homes sold would be used for employee or contractor housing.
Realtor Sandy Dunn, in charge of coordinating the offers, stated that approximately 15 homes are either sold or in the process of selling, with more expected. Residents, many of whom had planned for their homes to be their retirement residences, told reporter Charlie Roth they can no longer tolerate the noise and disruption from the construction. One homeowner expressed that their retirement plans have been derailed, facing the difficult reality of starting over. The news segment noted that the company is looking to "make things right" following recent reports of flooding issues in some homes after heavy rainfall.
