Rebecca Cooke, a Democratic candidate for Wisconsin's 3rd Congressional District, has released a second campaign advertisement advocating for a data center moratorium. In the ad, Cooke explicitly pledges not to accept corporate PAC money, stating her unwillingness to be "beholden to any of these big tech companies." The 30-second spot, which features Cooke discussing her stance with two individuals, is airing in the Eau Claire, La Crosse, and Wausau media markets.
One individual in the ad questions the rationale behind facilitating the entry of AI and data centers into the region, to which Cooke responds by reiterating her strong support for a moratorium. This new ad follows an earlier one released by Cooke this month, which also called for a data center moratorium and included a segment criticizing U.S. Rep. Derrick Van Orden, R-Prairie du Chien, for allegedly "selling out" on data centers. Cooke's campaign has reportedly secured nearly $3.2 million in ad buys for the period leading up to the November 3rd election.
