The San Marcos City Council voted to deny a rezoning proposal for a new AI data center on February 17. The city council meeting, held at San Marcos City Hall, drew hundreds of attendees, causing the venue to reach capacity, with people gathering both inside and outside.
Following hours of public testimony from residents, which included both proponents and opponents of the project, the city council ultimately rejected the proposal with a 5-2 vote. The denial effectively blocks the development of the proposed AI data center.
