Atlanta-based DC BLOX is proposing a substantial data center campus within the Thunderbird Commerce Center in Indianapolis, a project estimated to cost between $700 million and $800 million. Plans for the three-building facility have been formally submitted to the Indianapolis Department of Metropolitan Development for review and approval.
The proposed development encompasses a 34-acre site located at the intersection of East 30th Street and Shadeland Avenue, an area recognized for its existing power infrastructure. DC BLOX, established in 2014, currently operates eight data centers across the Southeastern United States, providing essential connectivity and cloud services to local communities, government agencies, and enterprise clients.
This project reflects a broader trend of increasing data center investment in Indiana, a state strategically positioned for fiber optic network expansion. The company's objective is to deliver high-capacity digital infrastructure, particularly to underserved markets. The approval process with the Department of Metropolitan Development is a crucial step for this major infrastructure investment.
