Martindale-Brightwood residents push back against data center
Residents in Indianapolis’ Martindale-Brightwood neighborhood strongly opposed a proposed Metrobloks data center during a city informational meeting. The company says the facility would create jobs, redevelop a vacant lot and generate property tax revenue, while residents and state Sen. La Keisha Jackson argue the project is advancing without adequate community input.
Residents of Indianapolis’ Martindale-Brightwood neighborhood voiced strong opposition to a proposed data center at 25th Street and Sherman Drive during a city informational meeting. Metrobloks, a California-based data center developer, plans to build the facility on a vacant lot and is seeking possible tax breaks from the city.
Metrobloks says the project would create jobs, revitalize an underused property and generate additional property tax revenue. Residents, supported by state Sen. La Keisha Jackson, said the community does not support the project and questioned how decisions to advance it were being made without their input or approval.
