Skybox Datacenters Chief Development Officer Haynes Strader briefed the Wichita Falls City Council on the company's proposed data center campus at the Wichita Falls Business Park. The project is planned to include six to 10 facilities, with an estimated 2,000 to 3,000 temporary construction jobs and 300 to 500 permanent positions. Strader said the company is holding presentations and public forums to address what it considers misinformation about the development.

Strader said the facilities would use relatively limited municipal water, with most consumption tied to landscaping, restrooms and sinks, while a closed-loop chilled-water system would recycle water with about a 2% loss. He also argued that the project would create new electricity demand supporting additional generation and transmission infrastructure rather than diverting power from existing community users. Skybox officials said the campus could strengthen fiber connectivity, expand the tax base and support national technology and security objectives, while residents continue to seek more information about resource use and the project's broader impacts.
