Doña Ana County seeks 11 residents for Project Jupiter monitoring committee

Doña Ana County is forming an 11-member Community Monitoring Committee to provide oversight and facilitate public information forums regarding Project Jupiter, a proposed large data center development. County Commissioners, led by Chairman Manny Sanchez representing District 5, approved Resolution 2026-101 on Tuesday, establishing the committee due to persistent community questions about the project's potential environmental effects on water, air, noise, and pollution.
Residents interested in serving on the committee must apply by August 31st and live in the commission district they would represent. Applicants are also required to disclose any financial interests or affiliations with entities supporting or opposing Project Jupiter. The committee will include two representatives from each of the County's five commission districts, plus an additional member from District 5.
Commissioners are expected to review submissions and make appointments by September 4th. The County will provide logistical support, including meeting locations, advertising, translation services, and legal counsel for the committee. Project Jupiter, slated for the Santa Teresa Industrial Park, had its industrial revenue bonds approved by county commissioners in September 2025. Companies associated with the project, including BorderPlex Digital Assets, Bloom Energy, Oracle, and STACK Infrastructure, have previously committed to community engagement.
