The Beaufort County Board of Commissioners has rescheduled the official public hearing and vote on a proposed one-year moratorium on data center developments. Initially slated for Monday, the measure will now be considered on Monday, October 5, allowing residents additional time to provide input.
Despite the postponement of the official vote, an informal public hearing will still proceed on the originally scheduled Monday to gather public comments. The final public hearing, followed by board discussion and an official vote, will take place during the board's meeting at 5:30 p.m. at 136 W. Second St. in Washington.
If approved, the moratorium would temporarily halt the acceptance, processing, and approval of all applications for data center developments across Beaufort County for up to one year, according to county officials.
