Lambda announced plans to build and operate the proposed Red Clay Technology Center Campus near U.S. Highway 80 and Alabama Highway 21 in Burkville. Developed by Cloverleaf Infrastructure, the project is projected to represent a $33.1 billion investment, create more than 1,000 construction jobs and support more than 225 permanent positions. Local officials and school leaders said projected tax revenue could provide billions of dollars for Lowndes County and its public schools.
The facility is expected to be powered by Alabama Power, with construction potentially beginning in early 2027 pending regulatory approval. Lambda said it will pay the full cost of power and grid infrastructure, use closed-loop cooling to reduce water consumption, and work with N-Drip on water conservation. The company also outlined planned setbacks, buffers, noise controls and DarkSky lighting, while pledging continued engagement with residents and local leaders.
