Construction has officially begun on a $700 million data center in Temple, Texas, developed by Rowan Digital Infrastructure. The project was initially approved by the City of Temple in September, with ground broken last month. Nathaniel Brown, representing Rowan Digital Infrastructure, stated that construction is expected to last 12 to 18 months, aiming for the data center to come online by the end of 2027. The announcement of the data center raised questions and concerns among local residents, particularly regarding water usage, energy consumption, and potential noise pollution from the facilities. In response, Rowan Digital Infrastructure hosted an open house in March to connect with the community and address these issues directly. Helen Robinson of the Robinson Family Farm, a nearby business, initially worried about the construction's impact on their operations but noted that Rowan has done a great job minimizing disruption. Rowan Digital Infrastructure has also announced several local partnerships, including a 16-year agreement with the Robinson Family Farm, designed to provide significant relief for the farm's annual operational costs and allow for improvements and expansion of their visitor experience.
