Boulder City voters are weighing a ballot question that would permit data center facilities in the El Dorado Valley transfer area near U.S. Highway 95, outside a multispecies habitat conservation easement. Approval would establish data centers as an allowed land use but would not guarantee that a facility is built. Residents expressed differing views, with some citing potential job creation and others opposing additional development in the valley.

UNLV history professor Michael Green said large-scale development could alter Boulder City’s distinctive character and urged the city to focus on its historic downtown and heritage. Voters including Tyson Ballard, Marie and John Two Hearts Madrid also debated whether additional infrastructure spending and data center construction would benefit residents, tourism and businesses or create environmental risks and excessive development. The ballot questions were scheduled for decision during the Nov. 3 general election.
