Frederick County says no emergency warrants expedited schedule in data center moratorium lawsuit
Quantum Maryland, LLC, managed by Catellus Development Corporation, sued Frederick County over a moratorium on accepting new data center applications. The developer says the pause caused it to lose an Adamstown-area real estate deal valued at at least $500 million, while the county argues there is no emergency requiring an expedited legal schedule.
Quantum Maryland, LLC, managed by Catellus Development Corporation, filed a lawsuit against Frederick County over a moratorium issued by County Executive Jessica Fitzwater that paused acceptance of new data center applications. The company claims the moratorium caused it to lose a real estate deal near Adamstown worth at least $500 million.
In response, Frederick County said there was no emergency tied to the November election that would justify shortening the lawsuit’s timeline. The case concerns the county’s authority to impose the data center application pause and its effects on the proposed development.
