Meta’s data center campus in north Huntsville, Alabama, has expanded to nearly 3.5 million square feet after more than $1.5 billion in combined investment. Community engagement lead Henry Thornton said the facility employs more than 300 full-time workers, prioritizes local hiring and has benefited from strong engineering talent in the area. The expansion, announced in 2022, is nearly complete, with no additional growth currently planned.

Meta says the facility matches its electricity use with clean and renewable energy, is a direct-service customer of the Tennessee Valley Authority and does not rely on Huntsville Utilities for power. The company paid for a needed substation and receives water through Huntsville Utilities, while newer portions of the campus use closed-loop cooling systems. Meta has also supported STEM education, cybersecurity programs and other community initiatives across Madison County.
