Rep. Barrett, SBA Loeffler visit Lansing to talk small business

U.S. Rep. Tom Barrett, joined by Small Business Administrator Kelly Loeffler, toured Campbell Press Repair in Lansing, Michigan. Barrett, who represents Michigan's 7th Congressional District, discussed manufacturing, national security, and critical infrastructure during his visit. Responding to questions about data centers in his district, Rep. Barrett stated that local communities should have the authority to decide on such developments through their local zoning processes, rather than the federal government. He emphasized that whether a data center makes sense for a community should be a local decision. Barrett's comments come as the City of Lansing government is actively debating the construction of a data center in its downtown area. Barrett is currently campaigning for re-election in a highly competitive district.
