Data center proposed for zoo-area site could be larger than initially reported
A proposed data center by DC BLOX near the Nashville Zoo faces strong opposition from the zoo and community due to concerns over stormwater runoff and noise. Permit documents indicate the facility may be larger than initially reported, exacerbating these concerns. Metro Nashville is currently reviewing the building permit.
Atlanta-based digital infrastructure company DC BLOX recently filed a building permit with Metro Nashville for a 10-megawatt, 69,220-square-foot data center at 648 Grassmere Park, situated next to the Nashville Zoo. This proposal has triggered significant opposition from both zoo representatives and community members.
The primary concerns raised by opponents revolve around the potential negative environmental impacts of stormwater runoff and noise pollution that could affect the adjacent exotic animal property. Permit documents reveal that the proposed facility could be substantially larger than initial reports indicated, intensifying the backlash.
Publicly available permit details show that a noise review was approved, although no supporting documents were provided. Conversely, a water and sewer availability review for the project was canceled without any public explanation.
