Edenton, Chowan County to consider data center moratoriums

Edenton Town Council will hold a public hearing on a proposed 60-day moratorium stopping certain data center approvals while officials study impacts on electricity, water, wastewater, noise, stormwater, fire protection and nearby properties. Chowan County will consider a separate data center moratorium later in November.

Edenton Town Council will hold a Nov. 10 public hearing on a proposed 60-day moratorium halting certain data center approvals while officials study impacts on electricity, water, wastewater, noise, stormwater, fire protection and nearby properties. Chowan County will consider a separate moratorium Nov. 23, following similar actions across northeastern North Carolina.
