Warrick County officials recently disclosed preliminary information regarding a potential large-scale data center project, internally referred to as "Project Zora." The details were shared following an executive session held on July 30, which included the Warrick County Commissioners, county legal counsel, and economic development representatives, along with the project's development team.
County officials reiterated that the meeting was strictly for informational purposes, with no votes or commitments made. They also confirmed their refusal to sign any nondisclosure or confidentiality agreements. The county outlined initial proposal details provided by the Project Zora team, while stressing that none of the developers' claims have been independently verified.
Concerns remain regarding the adequacy of existing water, electric, and road infrastructure to support such a facility, as well as potential additional costs for taxpayers. The Commissioners stated their primary responsibility is to Warrick County residents and pledged to proceed carefully, insisting on reliable data and considering long-term effects before any decisions. They have requested the Project Zora development team to create a public-facing website for updates, studies, and direct resident inquiries. Future approvals for zoning, development, or infrastructure will necessitate public hearings and community input.
