Bulloch Planning and Zoning Commission recommends approval of data center ban

The Bulloch County Planning and Zoning Commission has recommended approving a text amendment that would ban new data centers and prohibit cryptocurrency mining in unincorporated areas of the county. This decision now moves to the Bulloch County Board of Commissioners for a final vote on August 4th.

The Bulloch County Planning and Zoning Commission voted 5 to 1 to recommend a text amendment that would ban new data centers and eliminate cryptocurrency mining as a permitted use in unincorporated areas of Bulloch County. County Development Services Manager Mary Deloach clarified that this vote is only a recommendation.

The proposed amendment will now go before the Bulloch County Board of Commissioners on August 4th, where the final decision to approve or deny the ban will be made.
