Gov: Washington County Commissioners
Washington County residents and environmental activists are protesting the development of data centers in their communities. The Center for Coalfield Justice organized a protest against two proposed data centers - a 400-acre center in South Strabane Township and a 147-acre center in West Finley. Residents, like Heather Martin, are concerned the data centers will consume large amounts of water and disrupt their rural, agricultural communities. Community organizer Sarah Sweeney says residents are being left out of the decision-making process. The Washington County Commissioners did not comment on the protests.
