Beale Infrastructure has officially withdrawn its application for a proposed 300-acre data center development in Gardner, Kansas. The company's decision comes after a city council meeting saw numerous residents voice strong opposition to the project. The proposed data center, planned for the southeast corner of 183rd Street and South Clare Road, had only been briefly mentioned at a "state of the city" event in April and had not yet progressed to the planning commission or city council for formal review. Following the community feedback and the City of Gardner's explicit stance against providing any incentives for the project, Beale Infrastructure opted to remove its application. Gardner Mayor Todd Winters issued a statement expressing gratitude to community members who participated in discussions regarding the project. He affirmed the city's commitment to pursuing "responsible economic development opportunities" for the community. KCTV5 News has reached out to Beale Infrastructure for comment on their future plans.
