Confusion continues to mount in Southwest Michigan regarding Hyperscale Data's expansion plans, following a vague announcement last month that did not specify a location. This has led to widespread speculation and concern among residents, particularly in communities across Cass County, about where the company's acquired 48 acres of land might be developed. During regularly scheduled council meetings in Dowagiac and Penn Township, residents voiced strong opposition. Marjorie Finn, who lives near an existing Hyperscale Data facility in Dowagiac, described the constant noise as a significant disruption. Other residents, including Paula Boyll, raised concerns about the environmental impact, specifically regarding water and electricity consumption, fearing that the expansion could deplete local resources and increase costs for residents. Boyll also highlighted the physical impact of the noise, describing it as a palpable vibration. Many neighbors currently track the noise levels from Hyperscale Data's existing location in the Business Center of Southwest Michigan, a practice that began approximately four years ago. There is considerable apprehension that the proposed expansion will exacerbate these existing issues, making the constant noise even worse.
