Spartanburg County Council advanced agreements for three proposed data centers: a high-performance computing center on South Pine Street, a facility on Tyger River Industrial Drive and another near Jones Road. The South Pine Street agreement involves Pneuma LLC and Valara Holdings LLC. The projects remain subject to final votes and additional public hearings.

Residents offered mixed views during public comment. Supporters emphasized potential jobs and property-tax revenue, while critics urged the council to delay approval until site master plans and development schedules are completed and released. Speakers also questioned community protections, noise, air pollution and planned power generation. County staff said the missing exhibits are expected to be included with the tentative November agenda, and council member Paul Abbott said he would oppose the South Pine Street project. The county's existing data center moratorium allows certain projects below a power threshold to proceed.
