NextNRG Proposes $22M South Bend Energy, Data Center Project
NextNRG has reached a preliminary agreement to acquire 33 acres in South Bend for a proposed $22 million energy and AI infrastructure project. The Lone Wolf Energy Center would combine on-site power generation, battery storage, microgrid technology and data center computing capacity of about 70 megawatts, potentially expanding to 100 megawatts.
Miami-based NextNRG has reached a non-binding agreement to acquire a 33-acre South Bend property from Envision South Bend LLC for approximately $22 million. The proposed Lone Wolf Energy Center would dedicate about 27 acres to computing infrastructure and energy equipment, with an expected capacity of 70 megawatts and potential expansion to 100 megawatts.
NextNRG CEO Michael D. Farkas said the project is intended to pair data center operations with on-site generation, battery storage and intelligent energy management to reduce strain on the local grid. The acquisition and development remain subject to definitive agreements, approvals, lender consent and other conditions, while an existing pharmaceutical facility on the property would continue operating under a proposed long-term lease.
