Gov: Indianapolis official, city's Metropolitan Development Commission

A tech developer, DC Blox, has received its first approval from an Indianapolis official for plans to construct a $2 billion data center campus on the city's east side. The Georgia-based developer is seeking a variance from the city's Metropolitan Development Commission to build the facility at the Thunderbird Commerce Center in Warren Township, a former automobile plant. DC Blox has pledged investments in local infrastructure.

However, residents like Don Briggs of Irvington expressed strong skepticism at a recent zoning hearing, arguing that such a decision would negatively and permanently impact the community. Briggs stated, "Once decisions like this are made, there's no turning back." The proposal will now proceed to the full Metropolitan Development Commission for a final vote.
