Angelina County hires legal help for proposed data center road agreement
Angelina County commissioners approved spending about $1,500 to hire outside counsel to draft a road use agreement with Amps Z Champion Data Center Holdings LLC for a proposed AI data center. The agreement could address construction access, potential closure or modification of Twin Oaks Road, road reconstruction, and compensation to the county.
Angelina County commissioners approved a $1,500 expenditure from the county’s legal services budget to hire attorney Bruce Green to draft a road use agreement with Amps Z Champion Data Center Holdings LLC. The company is proposing an AI data center and wants to conduct construction activities across Twin Oaks Road, which runs through property it owns on both sides.
County Judge Keith Wright said negotiations will determine whether part of the road can be closed or modified, how nearby residents’ access would be maintained, and whether the company would pay to reconstruct Twin Oaks Road and sections of John Cobb Road leading to State Highway 103. Wright said the project’s construction plans and timeline remain unclear, and no construction start date has been established.
