Councilman Russ Jehl initially introduced the task force proposal in June, which was then tabled, followed by the introduction of the moratorium legislation two weeks prior to the meeting.
The stated goal, according to Booker, is to thoroughly understand the potential community impacts of data centers before advancing any projects. The council decided to postpone the vote for three weeks, scheduling it to be revisited at their October 13 meeting.
