Delhi Township officials say they knew nothing about Holt-area data center plan
Lansing-area economic development officials announced a potential $10 billion data center on a 423-acre site near Holt in Delhi Charter Township, but emphasized that no project or end user has been finalized. The proposal faces mixed public reaction and would require industrial rezoning after the township’s 12-month data center moratorium expires.
The Lansing Economic Area Partnership is considering a data center development on 423 acres near Holt in Delhi Charter Township. LEAP President and CEO Bob Trezise said the organization is announcing a public process rather than a finalized project, with public meetings and advisory committee sessions intended to determine whether the proposal advances. Lighthouse Sustainability, led by CEO Gary Dorris, is helping prepare the site and is targeting a project of up to 1 gigawatt and roughly $10 billion in investment.
Delhi Township Manager Tracy Miller said township officials were unaware of the proposal and have not signed, and will not sign, nondisclosure agreements. Residents have expressed both opposition and support, while the township’s existing 12-month data center moratorium runs through April. The proposal would require rezoning for industrial use, and its backers have discussed clean-energy procurement, battery storage, minimal-water closed-loop cooling, noise reductions and a $20 million community benefits fund.
