Smithfield delays discussion of proposed data center

The Smithfield Zoning Board of Review delayed consideration of a developer's appeal involving a proposed data center. The appeal challenges a town planner's decision that the project's application was incomplete.

The hearing, originally scheduled for Wednesday, was moved to January 2027. The developer's legal representative said the postponement was prompted by two lawsuits filed against the Town of Smithfield, while the board's regular meeting was still scheduled to proceed.
