Amazon recently held a community open house at the Shreveport Convention Center in downtown Shreveport to provide information about its proposed data centers slated for the Caddo and Bossier Parish area. The event, held in the Henry Miller Shreve room, featured representatives from multiple institutions, including Amazon, SWEPCO, Stack Infrastructure, and the local water department, who were on hand to answer community questions.
According to KTBS News reporter Madison Edwards, community questions, particularly regarding 'hot button topics' such as sound mitigation, water usage, and energy usage, have become 'more and more robust' as more information about the data centers has emerged. Amazon stated its commitment to investing in energy and water infrastructure to ensure that local water and electricity rates are not adversely affected by the data center developments. Amazon Vice President of Web Services Roger Wainer was also present at the event. Many attendees expressed excitement to learn more about the data centers' impact on their community and to get their questions answered.
