The Charlotte City Council approved a moratorium on data center development within city limits at its August 25 meeting. Mayor Garland Breeden indicated that while the Dickson County government is developing its own standards for data centers, Charlotte sought to implement its own controls.

The council's decision allows the city government greater oversight of development within its jurisdiction. This action by Charlotte follows similar measures taken by several other municipal and county government boards in the region.
