The Pokagon Band of Potawatomi has publicly declared its support for the city of Dowagiac's efforts to obtain greater transparency concerning a proposed data center expansion project.
Hyperscale Data, a company that already operates a facility in Dowagiac, announced on March 30 its intention to purchase an undisclosed parcel of land for an expansion. However, city officials have stated they have not received any formal plans for this expansion.
Local residents have voiced significant concerns regarding the potential local and environmental impacts of the proposed development. Mayor Bakeman has given Hyperscale Data a 45-day deadline to submit its plans to the city.
