A developer identified as Clever presented details about a proposed data center in Charlestown, Indiana, during a public meeting held to address community concerns. Residents, including Angie Acres, expressed apprehension regarding potential impacts on property values, noise levels, and environmental pollution from the facility planned for Shadow Lake Industrial Park. Acres, who lives approximately half a mile from the proposed site, voiced concerns about the long-term quality of living.

Clever, along with its team of engineers and project specialists, described the project as a small, low-impact data center, planned as a single-story, 55,000 square-foot facility with no expansion plans. The company projected its water usage at about 200 gallons per day, comparable to 1-3 single-family homes, and a maximum power usage of five megawatts, similar to a large hospital. They also claimed minimal overall noise differences for nearby neighbors.

Charlestown Mayor Treva Hodges emphasized the importance of residents staying informed about different types of data centers and the information provided by the company. While the developer's presentation reportedly eased some anxieties, many residents remain unconvinced. The Advisory Planning Commission is scheduled to hold a public hearing on the project next month.
