Citizens in St. Joseph, Missouri protested a proposed data center at a City Council meeting, expressing dissatisfaction with the public hearing process for the voluntary annexation of the project site. Residents believe insufficient information was provided for them to voice concerns adequately.
ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – Concerned residents of St. Joseph, Missouri, gathered at a City Council meeting on Monday, June 22, to protest a proposed data center project located at Pickett Road. The protest follows a May 26 public hearing regarding the voluntary annexation of 6321 Pickett Road, the site for the planned development.
Citizens, including local resident Tammy Bergland, expressed significant displeasure with the city's handling of the initial public hearing. Protesters contended that the city failed to release sufficient information about the project at the time, thereby preventing residents from adequately voicing their concerns.
