A formal petition has been filed to recall Yukon Mayor Brian Pillmore and Vice Mayor Jeff Wooten following escalating public opposition to a proposed data center development and the city's agreement with developer BLE Landholdings. The recall effort, led by Joe Horn, claims city leaders are not responsive to residents' concerns regarding the project's potential impact on local water resources and a perceived lack of transparency in negotiations.

The controversy centers on an agreement signed in 2025 between the Yukon Municipal Authority and BLE Landholdings, which is associated with Beltline, for the purchase of property near Frisco Road. Critics argue the agreement, which allows the developer significant flexibility to terminate, leaves the city with fewer options to withdraw. City Manager Jeff Deckard acknowledged concerns, noting the contract includes several checkpoints, with a water use agreement currently in its second 90-day extension.

Mayor Pillmore was absent from a recent city council meeting where residents voiced their opposition. Vice Mayor Wooten, who was present, issued a statement defending his record of public service and affirming respect for the recall process. The petition requires approximately 2,000 signatures for each official to proceed.
