Prince William supervisors reject latest massive data center project in rural Gainesville
The Prince William Board of Supervisors unanimously rejected the Dulles South Innovation Center, a large data center project proposed on over 1,900 acres near the county's northwest border. This decision is seen as a significant blow to future large-scale data center developments in Prince William County, following protests from community groups.
The Prince William Board of Supervisors voted unanimously on Tuesday to deny the Dulles South Innovation Center, a massive data center development proposed on more than 1,900 acres near the county's northwest border. Board Chair Deshundra Jefferson stated, "I don't believe that data centers are an answer to all of our problems. I cannot get on board with this," before the vote.
This decision is largely seen as a definitive rejection of large data center complexes within Prince William County. Prior to the meeting, approximately three dozen people, led by Elena Schlossberg of the Coalition to Protect Prince William County, demonstrated against the project outside the Prince William County government complex.
