Conversations with the candidates: Warmington on housing, ICE, and data centers
New Hampshire Democratic gubernatorial nominee Cinde Warmington said she would impose a temporary moratorium on large-scale data centers and establish state guardrails for their development. She cited concerns about electricity rates, water consumption, noise, environmental impacts and the need for local input, highlighting a threatened project in Bow and a prior call for a moratorium in Nottingham.
During an interview with New Hampshire Public Radio, Democratic gubernatorial nominee Cinde Warmington called for an immediate temporary moratorium on large-scale data centers in New Hampshire. She said the state should adopt regulations protecting ratepayers, water supplies and communities from noise and environmental impacts, while requiring environmental impact studies and giving affected municipalities a role in reviewing projects.
Warmington pointed to a threatened data center project in Bow, located along the Merrimack River, as an example of a development whose effects could extend beyond a single town. She said she had previously stood with Nottingham residents in support of a moratorium and criticized Republican Gov. Kelly Ayotte for not supporting earlier legislative efforts to pause development and establish guardrails.
