During a press conference, County Council member Jenn Shabazz and Democratic nominees Mike Hamann, Ranjan Rohatgi, and Jan Cervelli stated that the county already has two data centers and should not permit any more. This stance directly counters an earlier proposal by Republican County Council members Amy Drake and Joe Thomas, along with Republican candidate Jamie O'Brien, who suggested a temporary countywide pause on new data centers to allow the community to understand the effects of existing hyperscale facilities.
