Republican Braidwood police Sgt. Adam Beaty is mounting his second challenge to Democratic state Rep. Anthony DeLuca in Illinois House District 80, which includes portions of Cook and Will counties. The candidates discussed property taxes, local government funding, health care and economic development during the campaign.

Beaty said he opposes large-scale solar farms on agricultural land but is more receptive to data center construction if facilities are placed away from densely populated municipalities and address noise and water consumption. DeLuca said data center development should not advance without addressing labor and environmental concerns, including recycling water and ensuring projects do not strain local water systems or rely excessively on the grid.
