Cities in Northwest Ohio, including Findlay and Tiffin, have approved temporary 12-month moratoriums on data center development. These emergency measures allow the cities time to evaluate if and how they want to integrate data centers in the future. Other communities like Maumee and Waterville have taken similar actions.

Several cities in Northwest Ohio, including Findlay and Tiffin, have enacted temporary bans on data center development. At recent city council meetings, both Findlay and Tiffin approved 12-month moratoriums as emergency measures, effectively pausing any new data center projects within their jurisdictions.
The purpose of these temporary bans is to provide the cities with time to thoroughly assess the implications of data centers and determine appropriate regulations for their future development. A representative stated that this action "just gives us a little bit more protection while we figure out exactly what this looks like with such a new kind of an evolving technology."
This trend is not isolated to Findlay and Tiffin; other Northwest Ohio communities, such as Maumee and Waterville, have also implemented similar 12-month moratoriums, indicating a regional cautious approach to the rapid growth of the data center industry.
