Stratos data center water permit will be filed 'shortly'
The Stratos data center project in Box Elder County, Utah, has missed an estimated deadline for filing its water permit application. Developer Oly Digital says the application is in final review and will be filed shortly, with detailed studies of water demand, treatment and recycling.
The Stratos data center received approval from the Utah Military Installation Development Authority and the Box Elder County Commission, but key details about its potential water use remain unavailable. Developer Kevin Olirri previously said the water permit application would be publicly filed by the end of August.
Oly Digital CEO Kevin Olirri said the deadline was an estimate and that the application was expanded beyond standard requirements to include hydrological studies and engineering analysis of water treatment and recycling. The company said the application is complete and in final review, though Utah officials had not received it as of the report.
