Gov: Nodaway County Commissioners, Maryville City Council
Nodaway County Commissioners announced on Tuesday that they are continuing to urge Scale Microgrids, the developer behind a proposed AI data center in the county, to host an informational public meeting. This push follows a significant volume of emails and in-person inquiries from community members expressing concerns and seeking information about the potential development. The commissioners noted they possess limited information regarding the project, including the identity of any hyperscale company, such as Google, Meta, Amazon, or Microsoft, that might operate the facility.
Scale Microgrids, which would likely lease or sell the operation to a larger tech firm if the project proceeds, had previously indicated to the commissioners that a decision on whether to move forward with the data center was anticipated by June. Public interest in the project was also evident at a recent Maryville City Council meeting, which saw over two dozen community members attending to request the city's assistance.
