The Big Rapids Township Board of Trustees will convene on April 7 to discuss the development of a new data center ordinance. The proposed ordinance is intended to establish clear, reasonable, and enforceable standards for data centers operating within the township.
Township Supervisor Bruce Borkovich and other officials have undertaken research into existing data center ordinances from other communities and have conducted public input sessions to gather local perspectives on the ordinance's content.
In addition to the data center ordinance, the board will also consider an interlocal agreement with the city of Big Rapids for sidewalk snow plowing along State Street, a measure prompted by an offer from the Michigan Department of Transportation to construct a new sidewalk.
