Granbury Mayor, Two Council Members Sue City To Block Recall, Allege Petition Fraud
Granbury Mayor Jim Jarratt and two council members sued the city to block a recall election, alleging fraud and forgery in petitions targeting them. The recall effort arose amid opposition to the proposed Project Patriot data center and power plant at Knox Ranch, though the allegations have not been proven.
Granbury Mayor Jim Jarratt, Mayor Pro Tem Bruce Wadley and Councilman Gary “Skip” Overdier filed a lawsuit against the City of Granbury seeking to stop a recall election scheduled for May 2027. The officials allege that petition signatures supporting the recall contain fraud, forgery and other defects. City Attorney Jeremy SoRelle advised the council to halt election scheduling after the lawsuit was announced.
The recall effort targets five city officials and gathered more than 1,300 signatures on each petition. Organizers cited opposition to the proposed Project Patriot data center and power plant at Knox Ranch, along with concerns about government transparency. Hood County Republican precinct chair Kolton Krottinger criticized the lawsuit as government overreach and said voters should decide whether the officials remain in office. Granbury has received a concept plan for Project Patriot but no development plans as of October 8.
